The Power of Appreciation
Appreciation is more than saying “thank you.” It is a simple practice that can shift your attention toward what is working, what feels good, and what you value in your life.
When we regularly practice appreciation, we can experience less stress, a more positive outlook, stronger relationships, greater emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of contentment. Appreciation can also help us step out of negative thought patterns and become more aware of the present moment.
Appreciation and Your Subconscious Mind
What we repeatedly focus on can become a familiar pattern for the mind. Practicing appreciation gives your subconscious something positive to notice and reinforce. Instead of constantly looking for what is wrong or missing, you begin recognizing the good that is already present.
Hypnosis can help reinforce positive thought patterns and beliefs at the subconscious level. Hypnosis gets to the emotional patterns that make it difficult to experience peace, appreciation, and contentment. Belief Code can get to the limiting beliefs that hold you back from giving appreciation and, the Emotion Code session gets rid of trapped emotions that may get in your way of expressing or feeling appreciation for yourself and others.
Appreciation Game
This is a verbal game you play with your significant or insignificant other or even a friend where you take turns making exaggerated, highly specific statements about why you appreciate someone.
- The Setup: Use the prompt: “If you were a [blank], I would [blank].”
- Example: “If you were a Wi-Fi signal, I would sit right next to the router all day just to stay connected to you.”
- Example: For a relationship: If I were a banker, I would invest all my time and love in you.” Example for thanking a friend: If I were a banker, I would store all your wise advice in a vault.”
- Example: If I were a blogger who does hypnosis, I would trance-form your daily routine into a laugh filled escape every single time you read my post.
This can be fun way to allow your critical thinking skills to hardwire appreciation into your subconscious brain.
Another simple exercise: Stop for a moment and name three things you genuinely appreciate. They don’t have to be big. A good cup of coffee, a kind conversation, sunshine through the window, or simply having a moment to breathe in for six counts, hold for six counts, and breathe out for six counts.
Sometimes a small shift in focus can create a surprisingly big shift in how we experience our day.
