February Hypnosis Tips include Hand on the heart. Neural cells around the heart activate during stress. Your warm hand on your heart calms those neurons down, often in less than a minute. Hand on the heart works especially well when you breathe positive thoughts, feelings, images of safety and trust, and ease into your heart at the same time.
The hand-on-the-heart method is a simple, science-backed way to calm your nervous system and bring yourself back to a state of safety and balance when you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or upset.
Here’s how it works and why it helps:
💗 1. The method:
- Place your hand gently over your heart.
- Take a slow, steady breath in through your nose, and exhale softly through your mouth.
- As you breathe, focus on the warmth and pressure of your hand.
- You can silently say something kind or reassuring to yourself, like:
“I am safe right now.”
“I am okay.” - You can repeat a positive affirmation. I use this one from Access Consciousness, “All of life comes to me with ease and joy and glory.” ®
- Visualize something positive. That might be the happiness your pet displays when they see you or conjure up that nature scene you enjoy. Erase any picture that keeps you from relaxing.
Do this for 30 seconds to a few minutes, until your body begins to relax.
🧠 2. Why it works:
- Touch releases oxytocin, a hormone linked to safety, connection, and calm.
- Breathing slowly signals your parasympathetic nervous system (the body’s “rest and restore” response) to activate.
- Self-compassionate words and affirmations shift your brain from fear or self-criticism into comfort and reassurance.
- Pictures in your mind promote calmness by tricking the brain into reacting to imagined scenes as if they are real, which lowers heart rates, reduces cortisol, and eases muscle tension.
🌿 3. When to use it:
- When stressed and overwhelmed
- After a difficult conversation
- Before bed
- In situations that stir emotion
- As a daily mindfulness ritual to reconnect with yourself
Hypnosis helps ground you in the present moment and so do these small acts that send a big message to your mind and body that it is okay to relax because you are safe.
Working with Donna Brown Hypnosis allows you to feel supported, grounded, and understood. In-person sessions offer a safe, private space to release past emotional trauma and rebuild emotional resilience. When you let go of the past, you stop picking the same type of person and you can find yourself in a kind, loving, relationship.
Now for another fun Hypnosis Tip: Kissing could relieve muscle cramps and menstrual cramps. It can also help your gut microbiome. Who knew?
One small shift can change everything. Hypnosis helps you shift what isn’t working. I’d be honored to work with you.
