Science and hypnotists believe you should surround yourself with people who reflect the qualities you want to develop.
The five people you spend the most time with play a powerful role in shaping your thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs because humans naturally mirror their environment. Subconsciously this is hypnosis by association.
Through a psychological process called social contagion; moods, habits, and even mindsets spread among close connections. If your circle is ambitious, positive, and supportive, you’re more likely to adopt those same qualities. On the other hand, if negativity, complacency, or unhealthy habits dominate the group, they can slowly seep into your own life without you fully realizing it. Essentially, your inner circle sets the tone for what feels “normal” in your daily life.
Beyond habits and attitudes, your five closest connections also shape your opportunities and future direction. Conversations with your friends influence what you value, what risks you take, and how you respond to challenges. They can either push you to grow or hold you back.
Research in social psychology demonstrates that the people in our closest social circles influence our attitudes, behaviors, and even our overall health through a phenomenon known as social contagion. Just look at your social media account – which happens to be the biggest influencer currently – and you will be able to see how you’ve changed something – a diet, a belief, the trendy words you speak – by those you follow.
Little by little, the compounding effect of experiences, advice, and where you put your energy creates your trajectory. This is why many hypnotists and personal development experts stress the importance of intentionally choosing who, what, when, where and how you spend your time.
Consider being around people who demonstrate the qualities you want to develop or schedule a hypnosis session that focuses on making the changes that allow your positive skills, talents, and abilities to materialize.
As Earl Shoaff said, “For things to change, you must change.”
Who influences you?
How much growth have you experienced in the last six months?
What can you create with the people in your circle?
What would you like to change in your life?
Earl also mentioned, “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.”
Are you ready to change using hypnosis?
